Internationalist greetings! This is the second issue of 2024\u2019s International Peoples’ Assembly (IPA)<\/a> Newsletter In Movement<\/strong>. This month, we invite you to join Red Books Day, celebrated every year on 21 February. On this day in 1848, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels published the Communist Manifesto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initiated by the International Union of Left Publishers (IULP) in 2020, Red Books Day has become an important event in the calendar of the internationalist Left, mobilising tens of thousands of people from around the world. The IULP selected this date as Red Books Day to encourage people to read \u201cRed\u201d Left books through public events and share their reading on social media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the International Peoples’ Assembly (IPA), we celebrate Red Books Day and join the IULP in the 2024 celebrations. This day is not only a celebration of the publication of the Communist Manifesto but also a moment to stand in solidarity with comrades worldwide facing right-wing attacks.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

We invite you and your organisation, movement, political party, publishing house, or cultural centre to organise a virtual or in-person Red Book reading, post your favourite Red Book on social media, organise Red Books workshops or study groups, create political art in commemoration of Red Books Day, or take other actions that can spread left-wing texts and political action throughout your community and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latin America and the Caribbean Call for Peoples\u2019 Integration |<\/strong> From 22-24 February, we will gather in Foz do Igua\u00e7u, a city on the triple border between Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina, to celebrate the Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Peoples\u2019 Integration. More than 1,500 people from over fifteen countries will gather to strengthen the peoples\u2019 integration and build social and political unity. The central themes of the political struggle in the region will be part of the debates, conferences, artistic activities, and a political-cultural event, which will bring together thousands of activists from our movements, trade union centres, and alliances, as well as presidents, vice-presidents, and political leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean. The World Stands with Palestine<\/strong> |<\/strong> We strongly condemn Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza and denounce the ongoing intense bombardment and ground attacks across the Palestinian territory. The continued siege, bombings, and killings are in blatant disregard of the provisional ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which called on Israel to take measures to protect civilians and allow significantly increased humanitarian aid to enter Gaza to alleviate the extremely dire humanitarian crisis. South Africa\u2019s historic case against Israel for genocide in Gaza in the ICJ was supported by many countries around the globe, including Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Malaysia, Turkey, Pakistan, and Namibia, as well as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, made up of 57 members, among others. Israel\u2019s genocidal bombardment of Gaza has killed over 26,400 Palestinians since 7 October last year and injured more than 65,000, in addition to more than 8,000 others who are missing. With a global movement for Palestine growing, the struggle for liberation is stronger than ever, and we continue to build peoples\u2019 movements for a #FreePalestine.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
